Mr. Duane Werner, Principal

Vilseck High School is located in eastern Bavaria near the Czech border and close to the cities of Nuremburg and Regensburg. In addition to Rose Barracks in Vilseck, VHS services the community of Grafenwoehr and Amberg and surrounding housing areas.

VHS is home to approximately 425 students, grades 9-12, who have the opportunity to participate in Engaged Learning projects in academic areas. They have a wide range of choices in elective areas to include art, band, chorus, German, Spanish, home economics and technical education. Our students learn skills such as word processing, desktop publishing, and Computer Sevice and Support (CCS), Webpage Management, and CISCO Networking; classes that prepare our young people for the world of work. Extracurricular activities are available to students ranging from National Junior Honor Society, National Honor Society, Science Club, yearbook, student government and a variety of interscholastic sports. Scheduled activity buses service the after school program delivering students to centralized locations on a daily basis. The Bavarian Arts Guild is centered at VHS, providing students the opportunity to participate not only in high school drama class, but award winning theatrical productions..

VHS functions on a four period day beginning at 0810 and ending at 1500. Students and classes are welcomed into the Information Center throughout the day. From 1515 to 1700 the Information Center becomes the Homework Lab, operated by Youth Services. VHS offers Advanced Placement Via Individual Determination (AVID). Approximately 30% of our students, grades 10-12, are involved in Career Practicum (work experience for credit) within the communities. The communities of Grafenwoehr and Rose Barracks formulate a number of teams including the Communication Counsel/School Advisory Counsel (SAC). Our School Home Partnership welcomes parents into the school at any time.

Incoming students and their parents are welcomed first by the Registrar and school guidance counselors who make every effort to match stat side academic classes with those offered by VHS. Distance learning classes are also available.

The compact size of VHS offers advantages to those students who wish to become involved in any one of a myriad activities. We urge you to become all that you can be participating fully at VHS.
